Sparrow Patient Support Groups & Services
The Herbert-Herman Cancer Center has an Oncology Social Worker that is available to assist with the psychological,
social and practical issues that affect patients, families and caregivers facing a cancer diagnosis. The challenges and
treatment of a cancer diagnosis can be distressing. Our Social Worker provides guidance, psychosocial support, and
short-term counseling for patients and families during or after treatment. Our social worker can also be of assistance
when confronting the practical matters that arise during treatment, such as transportation, home care, and finances.
Our Oncology Social Worker who is familiar with the resources available to our patients can help connect you to these
valuable services, including local support groups. It is our goal to help you receive the care that best meets your
unique needs. Please ask your physicians or nurses to connect you with our Social Worker any time you have
concerns or resource needs.
